Ever wanted someone to write poems for you?

“To love is a natural instinct. To be loved is 'something'. To be loved like crazy, like their life depends on you is a once-in-a-lifetime feeling. How many of us can keep their right hand on their heart and say that they have actually experienced something like that? Not many, I guess. Because you know what, once-in-a-lifetime moments, well, come once in a lifetime. You either have to extremely, enormously and tremendously lucky or have to manage to fascinate a poet or a painter or someone really very naïve or mentally unsound.”

Managed the most important part of a good poem

November 7, 2016

Traveling from Pune to Mumbai, I got the crux of a poem which I should manage to complete some day later.

The Crux:

Miss,
You're pure bliss!

Jack Gilbert's This Rain

Read one of my favorite poems over the weekend. Wish I could write something like this one day. This thought derailed my ambitious weekend plans. So I took an old poem of mine and re-wrote it. Not on par with Jack Gilbert, but nevertheless - I am happy with what I managed.

First Gilbert's

This Rain

By
Jack Gilbert

Suddenly this defeat.
This rain.
The blues gone gray
And the browns gone gray
And yellow
A terrible amber.
In the cold streets
Your warm body.
In whatever room
Your warm body.
Among all the people
Your absence
The people who are always
Not you.

I have been easy with trees
Too long.
Too familiar with mountains.
Joy has been a habit.
Now
Suddenly
This rain.

Now, yours truly (hope you don't laugh):

<No Title>

The streets are silent /
Playgrounds are still /
Noise moved elsewhere /
Into our homes /
Into our hearts /
It’s been too long /
Children are not where they belong /
The streets, the playgrounds and the song /
Have been waiting for too long
